🧬 Lp (a) Risk Depends on Your Waistline: According to Nick Norwitz, a high lipoprotein (a)—Lp (a)—level may not be as dangerous if your waist-to-hip ratio is healthy—meaning under 0.8 for women and 0.9 for men (a solid target to aim for). Keeping this ratio in check can drastically reduce cardiovascular risk even with elevated Lp (a) levels (read more here).
🍷 Is Moderate Alcohol Actually Healthy? Mark Sisson challenges the “no safe amount” narrative, arguing that moderate intake—like a small glass of wine with dinner—can fit into a healthy lifestyle for most people. The supposed link between alcohol and brain shrinkage appears weaker than headlines suggest (more here).
